Moonfleet - Brixham

This cottage sits above the harbour in Brixham, arranged over four floors linked by the original Victorian staircases, including a winding staircase with handrails leading to the top-floor bedroom. The ground floor opens into a lounge with sofas, a 40-inch TV with satellite and Blu-ray, and views across the bay. Steps lead down to the lower ground floor, where an open kitchen with an electric cooker, halogen hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine sits alongside a dining table for six.

Sleeping up to six across three bedrooms, the layout offers two super-king-size rooms and one king-size room that can be made up as a twin if requested in advance. The penthouse bedroom on the top floor has its own en-suite shower room, while a further family bathroom with bath and separate shower serves the other two bedrooms. Given the multiple staircases and Victorian layout, the cottage suits guests comfortable with stairs rather than those needing level access.

From the dining area, doors open onto a private south-facing terrace with a table and chairs, set up for outdoor meals with a view over the harbour and old town. Wi-Fi is included throughout, and the kitchen also has a Nespresso machine. Families travelling with young children will find a travel cot, highchair and travel stairgate provided.

Parking is arranged as a gated space for one large car, roughly seven to ten minutes' walk from the cottage rather than directly outside. One dog is welcome, with additional charges applying. The beach, pubs and shops in Brixham are all within walking distance, though the town itself is hilly in places, which is worth bearing in mind when planning days out.
