Kingfisher Lake Lodge

Kingfisher Lake Lodge sits on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, overlooking its own private lake, and sleeps up to four guests across two bedrooms. The lodge runs on an off-grid solar power system with a private water supply, so bottled drinking water is provided by the owner. In periods of prolonged poor weather the solar batteries can run low, though a backup generator is on hand.

Inside, an open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner forms the main living space, with a gas oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and a television. Double doors from the lounge lead out to a decked terrace overlooking the lake, reached via external steps that may not suit those with restricted mobility. A bio-ethanol fire in the lounge adds a warm spot to return to after time outdoors.

The double bedroom has its own en-suite WC, while the twin room with 2ft beds shares access to a separate shower room with shower and WC. Fishing is available on the lake itself, mainly for carp, and guests wishing to fish should let the owner know in advance; swimming in the lake is not permitted, and children must be supervised near the water at all times.

Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and internet access is available at the property. A shop and pub can be reached on foot in the village of South Brent, around 1.5 miles away. This lodge does not accept dogs, and the arrival time is from 4pm with departure by 10am.
