Gittishayne Farm Barn

Gittishayne Farm Barn is a four-bedroom barn conversion sleeping eight, set on the edge of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape near Colyton. Stone floors, exposed ceiling beams and a stone chimney carry through the building's agricultural character, while the lounge centres on a wood burner with the first basket of logs supplied. The dining room retains a 15th-century oak screen, and the kitchen is fitted with an induction hob, electric oven, dishwasher, Bosch Tassimo coffee machine and a breakfast bar. An oil-powered Aga is also available from October to March.

One en-suite super-king bedroom sits on the ground floor, with patio doors to the garden. Note that there are steps at the entrance and further internal steps on the ground floor. Upstairs are a second en-suite super-king and two king-size rooms; all four bedrooms have Smart TVs, as does the lounge. Both super-king beds can be configured as twins on request. A family bathroom with shower over bath and WC serves alongside the two en-suite shower rooms. An external utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and additional fridge-freezer.

The enclosed garden features decking and patio furniture for eight, with a stream running through the plot. Families should be aware that the stream is unfenced, which is worth considering when booking with young children. Guests also have use of an orchard opposite the barn. A highchair, cot, two travel cots and two stairgates are available on request. Dogs are not accepted, and the property is not suitable for stag or hen parties.

Colyton Tram Station is around a mile away, where the Seaton Tramway runs through the River Axe wetlands to the coast at Seaton, 3.5 miles distant. The nearest pub and shops are also about a mile away, and the Jurassic Coast is reachable within 3.7 miles. Parking is available on site.
