Gill Cottage

This thatched cottage sits close to Branscombe, a village of stone buildings leading down to Lyme Bay, with a shingle beach around 1.5 miles away. Sleeping up to six, the property retains original character throughout, including low ceilings, exposed beams, window seats and inglenook fireplaces in both the sitting room and the adjoining kitchen/diner.

The kitchen/diner is fitted with Shaker-style cabinets, an electric oven, halogen hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A ground-floor shower room adds convenience, while upstairs a family bathroom serves the three bedrooms: two doubles and one twin. Heating is via night storage heaters in the reception rooms and electric heaters in the bedrooms, with thick stone walls helping keep rooms comfortable.

Outside, a gated gravelled driveway leads to a private lawn garden with outdoor furniture, set against surrounding valley views. Private parking is available for three cars, and internet access is provided. A 14th-century inn stands within metres of the cottage for meals out, while the nearest shop is around 4.5 miles away.

Two dogs are welcome, with additional charges applicable. Guests should bring their own beach towels, though towels for the cottage itself are included. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure before 10:00.
