Ford Mill Shippen

Ford Mill Shippen is a single-storey barn conversion near Woolsery, close to Clovelly on the North Devon coast. It sleeps two guests in one double bedroom, making it a good choice for a couple's break, and is accessed via a ramp leading up to the front door.

The open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner forms the main living space, with a wood burner (a first basket of logs is included) creating a relaxed spot for evenings in, alongside a smart TV and DVD player. A small dining table suits meals for two, and the kitchen is fitted with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The double bedroom has its own en-suite wet room with shower and WC.

Outside, guests have an enclosed, raised decked patio furnished with garden seating. The property sits within ten acres of grounds shared with the owner, whose home is also on-site, and guests are welcome to walk the land, visit the lake, or fish the river (rods and equipment are not provided). The decking and entrance area adjoin a working dairy farm, worth noting for anyone sensitive to farm sounds or smells.

Ample off-road parking is available, and a shop is around two miles away with a pub around four miles and the beach around eight. Two dogs are welcome, with additional charges applying. A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request. This is one of a small complex of properties on the same grounds, so guests should expect some shared access to the surrounding land rather than exclusive private grounds.
