Bilberry Cottage

Bilberry Cottage sits within a courtyard of nine similar cottages near Westward Ho, on the edge of farmland close to Bideford. It suits couples or a small family looking for single-storey, ground-floor living for the whole stay, with everything arranged on one level.

Inside, a lounge with an arched picture window looks over the front lawn, with a Smart TV and DVD player for evenings in. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge, enough for straightforward self-catering. The single bedroom is a triple room combining a double and a single bed, served by one bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC.

Outdoor space is shared with the rest of the courtyard complex: a lawn area to the front, a BBQ spot with picnic tables, and a children's play area with swings, slides and a football goal. Guests also have use of a 40ft outdoor swimming pool, heated from the late May bank holiday through to 1 September, and a fully enclosed dog exercise field a short walk away. A coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer are provided in a shared utility room rather than inside the cottage itself.

Practical details worth noting before booking: parking is allocated for one car, up to two dogs are welcome (no puppies under six months, and additional charges may apply), and a travel cot and highchair are available on request. The property is part of a working farm complex with public footpaths nearby, where dogs should be kept on a lead because of cattle. Shops, a pub and the beach at Westward Ho are within easy reach, making this a practical, unfussy base for a short break.
