Barley House

Barley House sits at the end of the row of cottages in the grounds of Talaton House in Talaton, reached along a wide, gently sloping paved path. Inside, a light-filled open-plan living area opens through big glazed doors onto a private front terrace. The cottage sleeps 6 across three bedrooms and three bathrooms, spread over two floors.

A king-size double bedroom sits on the ground floor with its own shower room, fitted with a shower, basin and WC. Two more bedrooms are upstairs: a super king-size double with an en-suite bathroom that can convert to a 6' bed or twin, and a twin, zip-linkable to a 6' double, with its own en-suite shower room. Both upper bedrooms have handsome beams to the apex.

The open-plan kitchen and dining area has a microwave, fridge-freezer, washer-dryer and dishwasher, a TV with Blu-ray and DVD, and WiFi. Electric panel heaters cover the cottage, with fuel and power included in the rent. A travel cot and highchair are available on request, though guests need to bring their own cot linen, and off-road parking is provided for two cars.

Barley House takes two well-behaved dogs, with a fee charged for the second. The cottage's own gravelled terrace and seating area are private, and guests can also use the wider lawns and grounds shared with Talaton House and the neighbouring cottages. Smoking is not permitted, the cottage accepts holiday bookings only, stays are capped at 14 nights unless arranged in advance, and a returnable bond applies.
