Appletree Cottage

Appletree Cottage is a semi-detached thatched cottage in the hamlet of Higher Brimley, close to Bovey Tracey on Dartmoor. Two woodburning stoves and a large farmhouse table give the ground floor a traditional feel, alongside a lounge, a separate snug, a bathroom with a bath and shower, and a separate WC. It sleeps 4 across two first-floor bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and one a double.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer, and the sitting rooms have a TV with DVD player and WiFi. Heating comes from night storage heaters and a wood burning stove, with a supplement added to bookings starting between 1 October and 1 May.

The terraced cottage garden has a lawn, furniture and several seating areas, though changes in level and steps mean it is not suitable for young children or anyone with limited mobility, and the cottage itself has a steep internal staircase. Parking is via a narrow back lane leading to a private space for one car, and guests bringing a larger vehicle are asked to contact the owners in advance.

Appletree Cottage does not accept pets, and smoking and barbecues are not permitted, the latter because of the thatched roof. Short breaks are not available, so bookings run by the week. Bed linen and towels are included in the rent, and EV charging is available on site. The nearest shop is a mile away and the pub around 1.5 miles.
