Wisteria Cottage
Mezzanine-bedroom cottage in Marldon with a private patio garden
Wisteria Cottage sits in the village of Marldon, a converted former dairy reached via several stone steps and a sloping gravelled path. Original windows, hand-stripped wooden floors and beamed ceilings run through the open-plan ground floor, which holds a living and dining area, a TV, and a kitchen fitted with a ceramic hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine and slimline dishwasher. The bedroom sits on a mezzanine level, with a king-size bed, TV and its own en-suite shower room, though note the low beams up there.
The cottage adjoins the owners' tea rooms, open Tuesday to Thursday and on Sundays, and guests can take food out to their own front patio garden with table and chairs, looking over the cottage garden. Electric storage heating covers the property, and WiFi and a Bluetooth speaker are provided.
Off-road parking is provided for one car. The shop and pub are around a mile away, and the beach is 3.5 miles. Between the 1st of May and the end of September, all bookings must start on a Friday.
Wisteria Cottage takes one well-behaved dog, and smoking or vaping is not permitted inside. Access to the cottage is via a number of stone steps and a sloping gravelled path, so it's worth bearing that in mind when you book.
