Watersmeet Hotel

Watersmeet Hotel overlooks Combesgate Beach from a cliff-top position at Mortehoe, on the edge of Woolacombe. The hotel has 28 bedrooms and suites, including three larger suites, with steps leading down from the grounds to the beach itself.

Almost every room looks out over Combesgate Beach, Lundy Island and Baggy Point, and a handful open onto glass balconies for an uninterrupted view of Woolacombe Bay. Beds are pocket-sprung with memory-foam pillows, and the Rocks restaurant holds 2 AA Rosettes, built around seasonal North Devon produce, with a sea-view terrace for cream teas and sunset drinks.

The hotel sits directly on the South West Coast Path, with National Trust coastline either side and Woolacombe's beach and village a short walk away. Woolacombe itself is one of North Devon's better-known surf beaches, and Mortehoe village has its own church and a couple of pubs within walking distance.

**Best for:** Couples and walkers wanting sea views and direct coast-path access without staying in Woolacombe village itself.

**Less good for:** Guests who want to be inside Woolacombe village itself - Mortehoe is a mile or so along the coast, better reached by car after dark.
