Vale House

This substantial property near Lydford, close to Tavistock, sleeps up to 12 guests across six bedrooms. On the ground floor a twin room comes with its own en-suite shower room and WC, plus a utility cupboard housing the washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, a galleried landing leads to two king-size bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room, and three further twin bedrooms. A family bathroom with a shower over the bath serves the remaining rooms, and there is an additional separate WC downstairs, useful for larger groups moving between the sitting room and garden.

Ground-floor living space includes a flagstone-floored entrance hall, a formal sitting room with an inglenook fireplace and wood burner overlooking the garden, and a second, more informal lounge with its own wood burner and a television. The dining room, also flagstone-floored, opens into a well-equipped kitchen with an AGA (available seasonally, or on request outside those months), electric oven, induction hob, two fridge-freezers, a wine cooler and a dishwasher, along with a breakfast bar for casual meals.

Outside, a large lawned garden includes a gravelled patio, garden furniture, a fire pit with BBQ grill and a private hot tub, with towels provided. A separate barn building, lit but unheated, houses a table tennis table and pool table, and outdoor games such as croquet and badminton are also available. Guests can arrange to hire a wood-fired pizza oven directly with the owner, and catering can also be organised in advance through the owner. Ample off-road parking is available on the driveway.

Wi-fi is provided but described as suitable for browsing and email given the rural setting, so those needing a fast connection for work should plan accordingly. Two travel cots and two high chairs are supplied for families with young children. Up to four dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply. The nearest pub is around two miles away and the closest shop about five miles, worth noting for those not planning to self-cater entirely from the well-stocked kitchen.
