The Old Stable

The Old Stable is a neatly converted dairy with an upside-down layout, set in rolling farmland about a mile and a half from the village of Sidbury. The cottage sleeps 4 across two ground-floor bedrooms, each with its own en-suite shower room.

Upstairs, making the most of the rural views, is a lofty open-plan living space with exposed roof trusses, a wood burner, a fitted kitchen and French windows opening onto a balustrade. It's a bright, airy room built around the outlook, with the bedrooms kept below on the ground floor.

The double bedroom and the twin, which can be zip-linked into a 6ft double, each come with their own compact en-suite shower room, so there's no need to share. A cot and highchair are available on request for younger guests.

Outside, an enclosed terrace and a rough lawned garden come with a table and chairs, and guests may be able to help out on the neighbouring farm by arrangement with the friendly owners. Sidbury itself has a good pub and a shop for holiday essentials, and Sidmouth's esplanade is within reach for a day out.

Off-road parking is provided for up to 4 cars. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at an additional cost, and the cottage is no smoking throughout. Bookings are accepted with Saturday arrivals only.
