The Mill House

The Mill House is a converted mill house on the edge of Ashburton, inside Dartmoor National Park. A wrap-around garden with lawn and stone borders surrounds the property, and the house sleeps 10 across four bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a separate cloakroom.

Downstairs, the farmhouse kitchen has an Aga with an electric double oven and gas hob, an American-style fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, with a door onto the patio for outdoor meals. The sitting room has a woodburning stove and a Smart TV, and a separate snug study has its own woodburning stove plus a sofa bed for extra sleeping space. LPG central heating covers the house, and fuel, power and a starter pack for the woodburners are included in the rent.

Upstairs, the family room holds a double bed and an extendable day bed with an en-suite walk-in shower room, and a super-king-size room has an electric fire and its own en-suite walk-in shower room. A further double and a twin room with zip-link beds and a desk share the family bathroom, which has a freestanding bath and a separate walk-in shower.

The Mill House takes two well-behaved pets, and off-road parking is provided for 6 cars. Stone steps at the entrance have no handrail, so the property is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility. A stream runs alongside the house with loose rocks and uneven banks that aren't safe for walking along, and the grounds include natural hazards such as branches and loose stone worth watching for with children. A temporary fence currently protects a steep drop near the old water wheel, and horses and cows graze in the fields next door. Smoking is not permitted, and the nearest shop and pub are both around 2 miles away.
