The Lookout - Brixham

Perched above the outer harbour, this end-terrace house sits on a private pedestrian approach reached by either a seven-step or a seventeen-step flight of stairs, both with wrought iron railings. There is no step-free route into the property. Views extend over the marina, breakwater and across Torbay towards Torquay. Brixham is a working fishing village built on a steep hillside; many streets are narrow and unsuitable for cars, and access to various parts of the village involves steps, some of them steep.

The house sleeps eight across four bedrooms. Ground-floor living space includes the lounge, dining room and kitchen. The lounge has comfortable seating, a Smart TV and a coal-effect electric fire; the dining room has an electric-effect log burner. The kitchen is well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer. Bed linen, towels, electricity and heating are all included, and a highchair and travel cot are available for families with young children.

Bedrooms are spread across the first and second floors. The first-floor double has an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower and WC; the main bathroom on the same floor has a roll-top bath, a separate walk-in shower and a WC. The two remaining doubles and the bunk bedroom are on the second floor; access to the bed in one double is restricted to one side only.

Three terraces with table and chairs are reached from the ground floor via steep, unlit steps, so children need careful supervision especially after dark. A paid parking space in the marina car park roughly 400 metres away must be arranged before arrival; roadside stopping outside is limited to pick-up and drop-off. Two dogs are welcome, though note that Breakwater Beach permits dogs only between 1 October and 31 March.
