Hearthstone East Cottage

Hearthstone East Cottage is a thatched cottage in Brixham, once a Devon longhouse dating back to the 16th century. The ground floor holds a sitting room with exposed beams and a stone inglenook fireplace with an open fire, alongside a well-equipped kitchen. The cottage sleeps 8 across four bedrooms and four bathrooms, spread over several internal steps that may not suit guests with limited mobility.

Upstairs, the four bedrooms sit on slightly different levels: a double bedroom with an en-suite shower, a further double bedroom, and two twin rooms. Two bathrooms serve the cottage, one with a bath and shower and the other with a large shower, plus two further separate showers, one off a twin room and one in the ground-floor utility room, and a separate basin and WC on the ground floor.

The kitchen has an AGA cooker alongside an electric oven and gas hob, a microwave, fridge/freezer, a coffee machine, washing machine and dishwasher, and there's a TV with Sky and Blu-ray alongside WiFi. Two travel cots and a highchair are available for younger guests.

Outside, a garden with a patio leads up to a lawned area with furniture. Hearthstone East Cottage takes two well-behaved dogs. Off-road parking for one car sits around 50 yards from the cottage; the route in from parking runs through the rear garden along a paved path and down 14 cobbled steps to the back door, and the front door from the road has a further 6 steps, so the cottage may not suit anyone unsteady on steps. Barbecues aren't permitted because of the thatched roof. The shop and pub are a five-minute walk, with the harbour 1.2 miles away.
