The Gatehouse

The Gatehouse is a thatched cottage on the edge of Axmouth, a village on the Axe Estuary near Seaton. It sleeps 6 across three bedrooms, with a sitting room, separate dining room and a kitchen fitted out for family-sized cooking.

Two of the three bedrooms are king-size and the third is a double, each with its own fireplace and picture windows. The single bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a basin and a WC, and a separate cloakroom adds a second basin and WC. Ceiling beams run through the cottage, though its thatched roof means the open fireplace in the sitting room cannot be lit.

The kitchen has an electric oven, grill and hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer and a washing machine with tumble dryer, and the sitting room has a Smart TV with a Bluetooth speaker and WiFi. Oil-fired central heating covers the cottage, with fuel and power included in the rent.

Large gardens to the rear have lawns, shrub beds and furniture for outdoor meals, reached down a flight of steps from the cottage. Allocated parking covers 1 car, with further on-road parking nearby when available, and the front door has a restricted height.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and smoking is not allowed anywhere in the cottage. The village shop is 1.6 miles away and the nearest pub 0.4 miles, with Seaton about 1.8 miles by road.
