The Fox and Goose

The Fox and Goose is a four-room inn in an imposing Victorian building in Parracombe, on Exmoor's Heddon Valley. Each of the four bedrooms is decorated in a different Farrow & Ball colour, with underfloor heating and a rain shower in every en-suite bathroom.

The kitchen serves seasonal dishes made largely from local ingredients, with meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan options, homemade desserts, and a couple of real ales alongside cider and wine. An open fire warms the bar through the colder months, and breakfast is included in the room rate. Fluffy towels and robes are provided in each of the four rooms alongside the underfloor-heated bathrooms.

Lynton and Lynmouth sit about 4 miles away, close enough for the Valley of the Rocks and the South West Coast Path to make a half-day out from the inn. Combe Martin, known for kayaking, is also within reach for a change of scene, and the village itself sits within Exmoor National Park's Heddon Valley.

**Best for:** Walkers and dog owners wanting an Exmoor inn with a fire, four individually decorated rooms and food on site.

**Less good for:** Guests wanting a larger hotel with multiple facilities, or a self-catering base with more space.
