Scarswell

Scarswell is a spacious country property near Slapton in South Devon, sleeping ten across five bedrooms. A light-filled hallway leads into a formal dining room, a cosy snug with a wood burner, and a study for those wanting a quiet corner. The open-plan kitchen and sitting room forms the heart of the house, with a second wood burner and bi-fold doors opening onto the patio.

Bedrooms are arranged for flexibility: two king-size rooms on the first floor come with en-suite bathrooms and dressing rooms, while two second-floor rooms have super-king zip-and-link beds that can be split into twins on request, each with an en-suite shower room. A ground-floor double bedroom with its own en-suite shower room sits off a self-contained secondary lounge and kitchenette, useful for guests preferring not to manage stairs for their own bedroom, though the rest of the house is arranged over multiple floors. Five bathrooms in total serve the bedrooms, plus two separate ground-floor WCs, one with a shower.

Practical facilities include a main kitchen with an Aga, electric oven, dishwasher and microwave, and a second kitchen with its own oven, hob and dishwasher. A utility room holds the washing machine, tumble dryer and an American-style fridge/freezer. A loft-style games room above the main living space has a pool table and table tennis, and there are four TVs around the house. A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request.

Outside, the property sits within lawned grounds bordered by open countryside, with several seating areas and a charcoal barbecue for outdoor meals. There is a private stable and a kennel with run and dog crate, and up to two dogs are welcome, with additional charges possibly applying. A private driveway holds up to six cars, and internet access is available throughout the house.
