Place Farm Cabin

Place Farm Cabin is a standalone timber cabin sitting within a wildflower meadow and orchard on the fringes of Dartmoor National Park, sleeping two guests with one dog welcome. The handcrafted king-size bed sits in a sleeping area that leads directly into an en-suite shower room with WC, while the open-plan living space has an exposed-beam ceiling, flagstone floor with underfloor heating, a Chesterfield sofa and a working log burner. An initial basket of logs and kindling is provided; extra logs can be purchased from the owner at £9 per basket.

The kitchen is equipped with an induction hob, air fryer and a fridge with a small freezer compartment, practical for self-catering using produce from local farmers markets. Wi-Fi is included, though the rural location means speeds can be intermittent. There is a TV, towels are provided, and a travel cot is available on request. One parking space sits on a shared driveway, and the access route runs through the owners' land, where you may encounter the owners' dogs.

To the rear, a raised private patio with seating and a BBQ has a sheltered area for windier weather and a gate that opens onto a large enclosed field. Livestock are often present in that field, so visitors with dogs should plan accordingly. A more open orchard-style lawn with a wildflower meadow and seating runs across the front of the cabin.

Okehampton is roughly two miles away and has independent shops, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs and the Museum of Dartmoor Life. The Granite Way cycling route is directly accessible from the area, and the open moorland tors are within walking distance for those who want to explore on foot. A pub and restaurant are within half a mile of the cabin, and a shop is within one and a half miles.
