Pheasant Cottage

Pheasant Cottage sleeps six near Ilfracombe, one of the group of converted cottages at Widmouth Farm between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin. Three bedrooms are arranged with a king-size and a twin on the first floor, both with bay views, and a ground-floor room fitted with adult bunks beside the bathroom. Check-in is from 4pm.

Downstairs, a feature fireplace and wood burning stove sit in the sitting room next to the dining area, and outside an enclosed patio garden at the side has sea views. Guests share use of a private beach around 500 yards from the cottage, plus a picnic area, dog exercise field and playground used by the other Widmouth cottages.

The kitchen has an electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge, heated by gas central heating and the wood burner, with a Smart TV and WiFi in the sitting room. A designated parking space sits by the cottage, and laundry is done in a shared utility room with two coin-operated washing machines, a tumble dryer, a fridge, freezer and iron. Travel cot, stairgate and highchair are available on request. In this fairly secluded spot, WiFi streaming can sometimes be slower, though browsing and messaging are unaffected.

The cottage takes up to three well-behaved dogs. A minimum stay of three nights applies, with changeovers restricted to Mondays and Fridays, and smoking is not permitted. The nearest shop and pub are about 1.5 miles away.
