Owls Oak Retreat

This detached property sits on a quiet country lane in Highampton, near Hatherleigh, with all accommodation arranged on one level. The open-plan space combines lounge, kitchen, dining and sleeping areas in a single light room, furnished with an upright piano, Smart TV and comfortable seating. The compact kitchen provides an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and Nespresso machine, while the bedroom area features a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room with walk-in shower and WC.

Outside, a generously proportioned enclosed lawn is set with garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ, alongside a wildlife pond and a further seating area with far-reaching views. A separate enclosed paddock gives dogs a safe space to exercise. Guests are welcome to explore the wider land and observe the resident alpacas and chickens, with horses often visible in neighbouring fields. Covered storage for bikes and surfboards is provided directly outside.

The Ruby Way is right on the doorstep, and the Tarka Trail, Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks are within reach for walking and cycling. Fishing permits are available at the neighbouring fishery. A pub is within half a mile and shops three miles away, with the North Devon coast accessible by car.

Two dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply. Children are not accepted except babies in arms. Private off-road parking is available on site. An EV charger is available at £20 per stay, with possible extra charges for stays beyond seven nights. Matchbox Sauna, a five-minute walk away, offers a cold plunge pool and massage therapies by arrangement with separate charges. Please note there is nearby livestock.
