Herons Lodge at Legge Farm

Herons Lodge at Legge Farm sits in Highampton, a quiet corner of North Devon well placed for Dartmoor, the Atlantic coast and the market town of Holsworthy, around 10 miles away. The farm's four fishing lakes are stocked with common, mirror, ghost, grass and crucian carp alongside roach, rudd, bream, tench and perch; lake fishing is available at an extra charge, payable directly to the owner on arrival. Pathways wind around the lakes and through the woods at no cost, though dogs must be kept on a lead throughout.

The lodge accommodates two guests in one king-size bedroom with ample storage. The contemporary bathroom has a shower over the bath and WC. Open-plan living and kitchen-dining areas make the most of the compact footprint, and a Smart TV with streaming apps handles evenings in. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave and fridge-freezer. A shed on site is available for storing rods, bikes or surfboards.

Accessed via sliding patio doors at the front of the lodge, an enclosed decked balcony with seating is a practical spot for morning coffee or an afternoon break. Off-road parking is available in the on-site car park, and the property has Wi-Fi. Up to two dogs are welcome, with a third accepted by arrangement; additional charges may apply.

Walkers and cyclists can head out directly from the lodge towards the fringes of Dartmoor National Park. Hatherleigh, five miles away, is the starting point for the Tarka Trail. A shop and pub are both around three miles distant, and the nearest beach is approximately 20 miles.
