Set on the fringes of Ashprington in South Devon, this three-part glamping retreat is designed for two people seeking a genuine break from screens. There is no TV or Wi-Fi, so evenings centre on the wood burner inside the shepherd's hut, the decked area outside with its gas BBQ and dining furniture, or simply watching the sky darken over open countryside.

The accommodation spreads across three linked areas. First is the shower and washing area, which contains a full-sized shower cubicle, a sink and a chemical WC emptied daily for guests. Through the gated entrance is the cooking and dining space, fitted with a dual gas hob, a kettle and a cool box for storing and preparing food. The shepherd's hut itself holds a double bed, comfy armchairs and the wood burner. A couple of steps connect the external areas to one another.

Parking for two cars sits at the bottom of a grassy hill, roughly 100 metres from the hut; a motorised wheelbarrow is available for luggage. One well-behaved dog is welcome but must be kept on the lead at all times when outside, except within the designated dog area, and off the furniture throughout. The surrounding meadow is home to hens, goats and two miniature donkeys, so all gates must remain closed. A pub is less than half a mile away and a shop around 2.5 miles distant.

Walks start directly from the property, and Totnes is around 3 miles away for the well-preserved Norman castle above the town, along with a wider choice of shops and cafes. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure before 10:00.
