Mallard Cottage

Mallard Cottage sits in the small hamlet of Tuckenhay on the banks of Bow Creek, about 3.4 miles from Totnes. The whole cottage is on one level, recently refitted with a new kitchen and shower room, and opens into a living, kitchen and dining space with a terrace looking out over the water. A reading nook catches the morning light with views across the river.

The three bedrooms hold a king-size, a twin and a single, sharing one bathroom with a shower, hand basin and WC, plus a separate cloakroom. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher, and the sitting area has a TV with Freeview and WiFi. Electric storage heaters cover the cottage, and there's a woodburner, though logs aren't provided so guests need to buy their own if they want to use it.

Outside, an enclosed garden has a patio and furniture, and steps lead down to a quay shared between three properties, a good spot to launch a kayak or paddleboard onto the creek. Children need supervising near the water at all times. Off-road parking covers one car only, with further parking on the street nearby, and the approach to Tuckenhay is down narrow lanes with passing places.

Two well-behaved dogs are accepted, though not in the bedrooms. The cottage is no smoking, and a pub sits 0.1 miles away with a shop about 3.2 miles off in Totnes.
