Kingfisher - South Molton

Kingfisher is a wooden-clad, reverse-level lodge set in an acre of open countryside, with a lake forming the backdrop. Three king-size bedrooms and the bathroom sit on the ground floor, while the main living spaces occupy the upper level. Up to six guests are accommodated, and no dogs are permitted.

The upper-level open-plan lounge centres on plush sofas and a wood burner, with the first basket of logs supplied; note that there is no TV in this room. A snug alongside offers bean bags and a Smart TV, and the contemporary kitchen has island seating, a reading nook, a second Smart TV and views across the lake. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, American-style fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine. A welcome pack includes fresh eggs from the on-site chickens and seasonal treats, and a travel cot and highchair are available on request.

A spacious deck outside is set up for relaxing or dining alfresco, with a gas BBQ provided. Charcoal BBQs are not permitted. The grounds are free to explore, and the roaming chickens are part of the landscape. Private parking is provided for two cars. The property runs on its own water supply, and the owner's house sits around 300 metres away with a separate access ensuring privacy.

South Molton is around 3.5 miles away and worth a visit for its Pannier Market. Quince Honey Farm, with an indoor play area for children, is about 2 miles from the lodge. Exmoor National Park is within easy reach for walking, and several award-winning beaches including Woolacombe and Saunton Sands are all within 21 miles. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure by 10:00.
