Kestorway

Kestorway is a single-bedroom, ground-floor annex adjoined to the main house on the edge of the Teign Gorge on Dartmoor, roughly three miles from Chagford. It's self-contained, with its own entrance, parking space and turning area, and sleeps 2 in one double bedroom with a shower room and a hall for coats and boots.

The living room has a wood burning stove, a small screen TV with DVD, and doors onto the garden, which wraps around the whole house. From here you can step into a sunroom overlooking the garden and open views to the west. The fitted kitchen and dining room has a washing machine, microwave and fridge-freezer, also looking onto the garden. Central heating and electric panel heaters back up the stove, with a starter pack of wood provided, and WiFi covers the stay.

The property is reached along 70 yards of gravel track, with three wide steps and a lawn to cross to the front door. The open moor starts at the front gate, useful for walkers heading straight out from the house. Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and a cot is available on request. Family and friends are also welcome to camp on site, by arrangement and for an extra charge.

Up to three well-behaved dogs are welcome, though the second and third come with a charge. Free-ranging farm animals and wildlife are close by, so dogs need to stay under close control at all times. Smoking is not permitted, and a returnable bond applies. The property draws its own water from a private supply that's tested regularly. From 2027, changeover day moves to Friday, so a booking made for any other day that year will need to be cancelled.
