Hedgelea

Hedgelea is a detached, single-storey cottage in Bondleigh hamlet, two miles from North Tawton, with restored original features including stripped wood floors combined with modern comfort. The kitchen has a slate floor and an old pantry, and the dining room keeps its original cast-iron range as a nostalgic feature; the sitting room has an open fire and a music system.

The cottage sleeps 6 across three bedrooms, two doubles, one with a king-size bed, and a twin, sharing a bathroom with a roll-top bath, shower over, WC and basin. The kitchen is fitted with an induction cooker, fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher, and there's a TV, DVD and WiFi, with fuel and power included in the rent, and central heating backed by the open fire.

Off-road parking is provided for three cars, and the enclosed garden has a terrace and a barbecue, with views across the Taw Valley to Dartmoor. A cot and highchair are available on request. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, kept out of the bedrooms, with an extra charge for a second dog. The car-free Tarka Trail runs nearby for walking and cycling.

Access is via a single-lane public highway with some potholes and ruts. The water supply is private and is tested regularly, and smoking is not permitted.
