Gitcombe Retreat

Designed by architect Roderick James, Gitcombe Retreat is a timber-framed house on the Gitcombe Estate outside Cornworthy, with a balcony wrapping two sides of the building for valley views. It sleeps 8 across four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

A double bedroom with its own en-suite shower sits on the ground floor. The lower ground floor holds two further super-king-size bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room, plus a third super-king-size room that can convert to two single beds on request, along with a separate bathroom fitted with a freestanding bath.

The open-plan living space combines a kitchen island, dining area and sitting area around a woodburning stove, opening through bi-fold doors onto the balcony. The kitchen has a built-in electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, and there's a Smart TV with Sonos sound and WiFi. Underfloor heating and the woodburner cover the cooler months, and a travel cot, high chairs and other baby equipment are available on request.

The house has its own private garden with outdoor dining space, a private hot tub and a barbecue area, plus an Easee EV charging point to the side of the building. Guests also share the estate's heated indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, championship tennis court, table football and a children's adventure playground across 14 acres of grounds; the outdoor pool is usually open from the late May bank holiday to mid-September. Off-road parking covers three cars at the front, with further spaces in a designated car park. No pets are allowed and the property is strictly no smoking.
