Ellerslie House

This converted house sits at Bickington near Barnstaple, one of three holiday properties sharing the same owners' grounds. The building has an upside-down layout, with the main living space on the upper floor to make the most of views over the River Taw.

Upstairs, the lounge and dining area opens onto a decked balcony with seating, and the kitchen is fitted with an oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. The dining table seats eight. A king-size bedroom and twin bedroom complete this floor, along with a bathroom that has a shower, bathtub, WC and heated towel rail.

Downstairs, a further king-size bedroom and twin bedroom sit alongside a small kitchenette with fridge, kettle and toaster, useful for those wanting to avoid the stairs at mealtimes. A second bathroom on this floor also has a shower, bath, WC and heated towel rail. A games room with a snooker table is also part of the property, along with wifi for guests who need to stay connected.

Outside, the decked balcony leads to gardens that are shared with the other properties on site rather than exclusive to this house, so guests should expect some communal use of the outdoor space. Parking is available on site. Up to three dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply, and a discount is offered for smaller parties booking in off-peak periods. Sleeping eight across four bedrooms, the house suits two families or a larger group travelling together, with a pub and shop within walking distance for everyday essentials.
