East Bickleigh

East Bickleigh occupies one of two cottages converted from a farmhouse dating from the 1600s, on a working farm near Halwell. The property sleeps 8 across three en-suite bedrooms, with a separate ground-floor WC.

The three bedrooms are a double with an en-suite shower room, a twin with an en-suite bathroom and a large bath, and a family room holding a king-size double and two singles with its own en-suite bathroom. The sitting room has a wood-burning stove and a dining area, and the kitchen opens through French windows to steps leading up to a private patio with a barbecue.

Guests share the farm's facilities: an indoor pool open from 8am to 8pm, closed for part of the afternoon on Tuesdays and part of the morning on Wednesdays during term time, and occasionally used by the owners' family and friends, plus a games room and a children's play area. A cot and a highchair can be arranged on request. Three well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Off-road parking is provided for six cars, and WiFi, fuel and power are included in the rent. The shop and pub are under a mile away. Bookings between Easter and early September, including short breaks, must start on a Friday or a Monday.

Halwell is a small village in wooded farmland, roughly equidistant from Kingsbridge and Totnes. Bed linen and towels are included in the rent, and the sitting room has a TV with DVD alongside the fridge, freezer and microwave in the kitchen.
