Cumberland

Cumberland is a detached, bespoke-built cabin sleeping four within the gated grounds of The Pig on the Hill pub, near Bideford in North Devon. Four steps lead up to the front door, so the property is not suitable for guests who cannot manage stairs. Two dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply. Private parking for up to two cars is provided.

Inside, the open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area forms the social centre of the cabin. The kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and a fridge with freezer compartment, and a dining table seats the group for meals. A Smart TV sits in the lounge. The two bedrooms are a master double and a zip-and-link twin that can be made up as a super-king on request; both share one family shower room. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. Laundry facilities are in a communal room with washing machine, tumble dryer and drying facilities, operated on an honesty-box basis.

Bi-fold doors open onto a raised, enclosed decking area with outdoor furniture, a charcoal BBQ and a private hot tub. Steps lead down from the decking to a lawned garden. The on-site pub and restaurant offers eat-in and takeaway services subject to opening times, and a private chef can be arranged if enquired about before booking.

Westward Ho, roughly a mile away, has a two-mile sandy beach, a surf school and access to the South West Coast Path. The fishing village of Appledore is approximately four miles away, and the harbour town of Bideford around three miles, with the Royal North Devon Golf Club about two and a half miles from the cabin.
