Browns Hotel

Browns Hotel is a boutique townhouse hotel in central Dartmouth, about 200 yards from the waterfront on Victoria Road. Nine en-suite rooms are split across Comfort, Classic and Premium categories, each individually decorated, and the hotel also hosts weddings and private parties.

A ground-floor wine bar and gallery stays open through the day for coffee, wine and cocktails, with rotating displays of work by local artists on the walls and occasional jazz nights. The restaurant runs a Devon Tastes and Flavours menu built around local produce, and dogs are welcome in the hotel's rooms.

St Saviour's Church stands about 200 yards away, and Dartmouth Castle guards the river mouth a walk or short drive from the hotel. The Higher and Lower Ferries cross to Kingswear for boat trips on the Dart, and Blackpool Sands is about a ten-minute drive along the coast road for a sandy swim.

**Best for:** Couples and dog owners wanting a central Dartmouth base within walking distance of the harbour and shops.

**Less good for:** Anyone travelling as a large group - the hotel is a small townhouse property with nine rooms in total, not a big group venue.
