Bellacombe

This modernised two-storey cottage sits in Woolacombe, Devon, within easy reach of the beach, a pub and a shop. Twelve shallow steps with a handrail lead up from the private drive to the front door, and the approach road is a steep single-track lane shared with nearby flats, wide enough for transit vans and 4x4s.

Inside, a bright dining area with a table for eight opens onto a decked terrace through large glass doors. The living room is split into a relaxed seating area with two sofas and a Smart TV, and a raised working space with a desk. The galley kitchen has a five-ring induction hob, double oven, dishwasher and a Nespresso machine, and a separate utility room houses a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. A snug with floor cushions offers a further place to unwind.

The five bedrooms sleep up to eight guests. On the ground floor, the master suite has a super-king bed and an en-suite with underfloor heating and a walk-in shower; a second bedroom has a king-size bed, and a third has a single bed. A family bathroom with underfloor heating serves this floor. Upstairs, a twin room (convertible to super-king on request) has its own en-suite shower room, and a fifth bedroom with a single bed has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and handheld shower. Four bathrooms in total serve the house, and a travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available.

Outside, a decked and paved terrace runs the length of the front of the house, with sun loungers and a parasol-covered dining set facing the sea. Steps lead up through a landscaped, terraced garden to a patio with a charcoal BBQ, and a sheltered pebbled courtyard sits off the utility room; the sloped garden has steps and changing levels, so supervision is advised for children. Private parking for three to four cars is available, along with on-site electric vehicle charging for a weekly fee. Dogs are not permitted, and smoking or vaping is not allowed anywhere on site. Woolacombe itself is close by for beach days and local shops.
