Ash Cottage

Ash Cottage is a detached barn conversion in the village of Longdown, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. It sleeps 4 across two bedrooms and one bathroom: a ground-floor double bedroom next to a shower room, and a first-floor mezzanine twin room reached by open wooden stairs with no door, best suited to adults or older children.

The ground floor is an open-plan living, kitchen and dining space with a full-height ceiling, wooden floors and an electric living-flame fire. The kitchen has an electric cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine, and TV and WiFi cover the sitting area. Central heating runs throughout, with a supplement added to bookings starting between 16 September and 27 May, and the low head height under the eaves on the upper level is worth noting.

Outside is a paved and gravelled patio with furniture and a barbecue, looking over adjacent fields where deer and birds of prey are sometimes seen. Off-road parking is provided for 2 cars, and electric vehicles must be charged at a nearby public charging point rather than at the property.

Ash Cottage does not accept pets, and smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. Children should be supervised on the mezzanine stairs at all times, since there is no door at the top of the open staircase. The shop is around a mile away, and bed linen is included in the rent. The cottage is let for holiday rentals only, not for commercial bookings.
