Admiral's House by Maison Pierre

Admiral's House by Maison Pierre is a 14-room boutique hotel inside a Grade II* listed building on Plymouth's Royal William Yard. Built in the 1800s as a home for a Royal Navy admiral, the house has been restored by Bistrot Pierre with period detailing kept intact throughout.

Each of the 14 en suite bedrooms comes with breakfast and wifi included in the rate. Complimentary parking runs from midday to 11am the next morning, one pass per room; the historic building has no lift, so upper floors mean stairs, though four ground-floor rooms can be requested by guests who need to avoid them.

Bistrot Pierre's dining room sits just across the green, serving French bistro dishes, barista coffee and a full wine and cocktail list through the day. A sun terrace overlooking the green gives a spot for a drink outside, and the wider Yard adds independent restaurants and galleries inside its Georgian dockyard walls. Cornwall is a short drive over the Tamar Bridge for anyone splitting a trip between the two counties.
