42 Above Town

This extended cottage sits above Dartmouth, on the high ground overlooking the harbour town, and suits a small group of friends or family. The original living room has been opened up with a glass-fronted kitchen and dining extension running along the garden side of the house, where floor-to-ceiling glazing and bi-fold doors bring in plenty of light. The dining table seats four comfortably, and a corner sofa faces the garden through sliding doors.

A cosy snug on the ground floor has a wood burner, TV and sofas for cooler evenings, with a starter pack of wood provided. Two steps down lead to a wet room with WC, also on the ground floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms: a light double with river views, and a twin with an ensuite shower over a roll-top bath, sleeping four in total across the property.

Outside, an enclosed garden combines lawn with paved walkways, and stone steps climb from here to a private roof terrace set up with a table and chairs, a spot for meals or drinks looking out over the river. The kitchen's bi-fold doors also open onto a paved area leading to the lawn. A washing machine and dishwasher are provided for practical stays.

There is no parking at the property itself, though unloading is permitted and a designated space is held at Jawbones Car Park half a mile away. A shop and pub are around 0.2 miles from the house, with a beach roughly a mile off. Internet access is available, and one dog is welcome to join the stay, with additional charges possibly applying.
