What to expect
Beer Regatta Week features canoe fun sessions, film screenings with the local film society, children’s discos, beach scavenger hunts and daily activities for families. The highlight is Regatta Day when the famous Raft Competition takes centre stage.
Teams assemble on Fore Street with their home-built rafts at 1.30pm, ready to launch their creations into the water. Fancy dress is encouraged for everyone - crews match their rafts with spectacular costumes, while spectators join in with anything from full theatrical outfits to gloriously silly hats. The raft competition combines maritime engineering, costume design and sheer determination.
Throughout the week, food and drink stalls operate on the beach and in the village. Evening entertainment includes live music and the traditional carnival atmosphere of a small Devon coastal village celebrating its maritime heritage.
