Weare Giffard

A combined farmhouse and barn retreat at Weare Giffard, near Bideford

Weare Giffard, near the town of Bideford, is the setting for Salterns River, a substantial riverside property combining a farmhouse and a converted barn into a single stay for larger groups. The barn holds the main living space in an upside-down arrangement, with corner sofas, armchairs and a log burner set beneath exposed beams, while further snug areas offer quieter corners for reading or board games. Two kitchens serve the property, the larger sitting within the farmhouse alongside the main dining space, with a smaller dining option in the barn for breakfasts.

Across the seven bedrooms, guests can choose from super-king, king-size, double and twin rooms, split between the farmhouse’s upper floor and both levels of the barn, so a ground-floor bedroom is available for those who prefer it. Six bath and shower rooms are divided evenly across the two sections. Outside, an enclosed lawn, a private hot tub and a games barn with pool and table tennis provide further space to spend time as a group, alongside parking for up to six cars.
