Converted stone barn in Manaton with an open-plan upper floor

Water Barn is a converted stone barn in a quiet lane on the edge of Manaton, in a hamlet of old cottages, farmhouses and trees, next to the owners' former mill house where the water wheel can still be seen. Stairs lead up to an open-plan living, dining and kitchen space lit by picture windows at either end, warmed by a wood burning stove.

Downstairs, the king-size double and twin bedrooms share a family bathroom with a bath and shower over the bath. A natural garden surrounds the cottage with granite boulders, oak trees, lawn and flowers, plus a barbecue for outdoor meals, and walking routes through woods and over moorland start right from the doorstep.

The kitchen has an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washer-dryer and dishwasher, with a TV, Sky, DVD player, WiFi and a landline phone, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent. Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and a highchair is available on request.

Water Barn takes up to two well-behaved dogs, and smoking isn't allowed. A pub sits less than a mile from the cottage, and Dartmoor tors such as Hound Tor and Bowerman's Nose are within reach for a day out.
