The Farmhouse Retreat

Set in rural North Devon near Roborough, four miles from Great Torrington, this three-bedroom farmhouse retreat sleeps six guests and accepts two dogs. Off-road parking is provided for two cars, arrival is from 14:00, and departure is before 10:00.

The ground floor centres on a lounge with a beamed ceiling, exposed stone fireplace and a wood burner; the first basket of logs is included, with additional logs available from the owner at £5 per bucket. French doors in the kitchen/diner open on fine days, and a breakfast bar sits alongside the main dining table. A downstairs shower room doubles as a useful space for muddy boots and beach kit, with a washing machine in the utility room and a separate WC off the entrance hallway. Upstairs, three bedrooms all have characterful beamed and sloping ceilings; the family bathroom offers a bath with handheld shower or a longer soak in the tub. A dishwasher, microwave and Smart TV are included, stairgates are fitted at both the top and bottom of the stairs, and a travel cot and highchair are available on request.

Outside, a gravelled patio with outdoor furniture and BBQ sits within an enclosed garden. The shared games barn on site holds a pool table, table tennis table and darts. Guests are welcome to join the daily 8am animal feeds, which include rescue donkeys, horses, ex-battery hens and a growing number of rescued pigs and sheep. Catering can be arranged with the owner, covering homemade meals and farm-reared sausages, bacon and eggs delivered to the door, and on-site Pilates sessions and pampering treatments can also be booked directly.

Great Torrington is the nearest town for shopping, while Bideford, 10.5 miles away, offers a wider choice of restaurants and supermarkets. A pub is one mile from the property. Subject to availability, this retreat can be booked alongside two neighbouring properties on the same complex.
