Thatch View Cottage

Thatch View Cottage is a 17th-century thatched property tucked off the village road in Roborough, near Great Torrington. Downstairs, a cosy lounge/diner has a feature fireplace, Smart TV and dining table, leading through to a galley kitchen fitted with an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and Nespresso machine. A separate ground-floor WC and a utility cupboard housing the washing machine and microwave complete this level, along with a study room with desk and daybed for anyone needing to work during their stay.

Upstairs, reached via steep cottage-style stairs, the sleeping accommodation comprises a king-size bedroom with exposed beams and a second bedroom with a zip-and-link king-size bed that can be converted to twins if requested at the time of booking. The single bathroom has a roll-top bath, separate shower and WC, serving both bedrooms. Total occupancy is four guests across the two bedrooms.

Outside, a private lawned garden comes with furniture, loungers and a summer house looking towards Dartmoor, and the property is enclosed. A converted barn at the front houses a private sauna with its own changing area, a genuine extra for a rural cottage of this age. Barbecues are not permitted here owing to the thatched roof, and prospective guests with electric vehicles should note that charging is strictly prohibited, as the electrical installation is not designed or insured for it.

Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and one dog is welcome by arrangement, with additional charges applying. The thatched village pub is under 200 metres away for food and ales, while Great Torrington and RHS Rosemoor lie within a few miles for a day trip. Internet access is available throughout the cottage, and towels are included in the stay.
