Temperance Cottage

Temperance Cottage sits in Braunton, a North Devon village with independent shops, cafes and restaurants close by. The property is arranged over three floors linked by winding stairs, with steep steps to the second floor and low beams throughout, so it suits guests comfortable with internal stairs rather than those needing level access.

The ground floor holds a beamed lounge with an exposed stone wall and a wood burner-effect gas fire, plus a cottage-style kitchen/diner with an open fireplace, pine dining table and doors to the courtyard garden. A utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer, along with a cloakroom WC, completes this level. Upstairs, four bedrooms sleep eight in total: a king-size room with original stripped floorboards and a Victorian fireplace, a twin overlooking the garden, a further double, and a second-floor double in the eaves with a skylight and an en-suite shower room. There are two bathrooms in addition to the separate downstairs WC.

Outside, a terraced garden descends across three levels via steep stone steps, not recommended for elderly guests or unsupervised toddlers. An enclosed courtyard at the rear offers a bistro table and chairs, while the upper deck has outdoor dining furniture and a charcoal barbecue. A hose and hanging rail are provided for wetsuits, with a shed for bike and surfboard storage.

The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave and dishwasher, and a smart TV is provided in the lounge. A travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available for younger visitors. Parking is on-street or in a public car park rather than on site. Up to three dogs are welcome, with additional charges applying, and internet access is provided throughout the property.
