Stable Cottage - Challacombe

This detached stable conversion sits on a 1500-acre working farm accessed via a private lane. The property sleeps four guests across two bedrooms: a master with a king-size bed and a second room with a super-king-size zip-and-link bed, which can be made up as a twin on request. Entry is via three external steps into an open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner with bi-folding doors opening to an enclosed garden.

The kitchen contains an electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer, plus a coffee machine. A wood burner with logs included provides warmth for cooler evenings, and a smart TV with DVD player sits in the lounge. The single bathroom has a bath, separate shower and WC. Travel cot, highchair and fireguard are available on request.

Outside, a patio with seating and a gas BBQ adjoins the lounge. A wood-burning hot tub, logs supplied, sits on the patio. Four steps lead to an enclosed lawned garden suitable for children and dogs. Off-road parking accommodates two cars. Two dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply.

Miles of private walks cross the farmland directly from the front door, with red deer frequently seen grazing on the moor and birds including buzzards, kites, snipe and woodcocks to look out for. Challacombe village is a short walk away, with a shop selling pasties, cream teas and local produce, and The Black Venus pub.
