Old Dairy Barn - Challacombe

Old Dairy Barn is a detached stone barn conversion on a working beef and sheep farm within Exmoor National Park, reached along a private tarmacked lane. The first-floor kitchen and living area are open plan, with exposed stonework and a gas-fuelled wood-effect stove adding character, while glazed doors lead out to a private garden and decking. The kitchen is fitted with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, coffee machine, integrated fridge and freezer, and a dishwasher, with a separate utility room housing a washing machine and a boot-washing sink.

Both bedrooms sit on the ground floor, one step down from the main living space, and can be made up as super-king or twin beds if requested when booking. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room with basin and WC, and a family bathroom offers a bath, separate walk-in shower, WC and sink. There is space for a travel cot in either bedroom, and a highchair is also available, though note the stone steps leading up to the front door.

Outside, the enclosed, dog-secure lawned garden includes a decking area with seating, a gas barbecue and an outside wood burner supplied with logs, alongside a private wood-fired hot tub also provided with logs. Private off-road parking is available for two cars. The property allows up to two dogs, with additional charges applying, and internet access is provided.

A short walk from the barn brings you into Challacombe, home to the Black Venus inn and a small village shop selling pasties, cream teas and everyday essentials. The farm itself has private walking routes starting from the door, opening onto moorland scenery where red deer and birds of prey are regularly spotted. Sleeping up to four across two bedrooms, this is a practical base for exploring Exmoor while staying close to a working farm setting.
