Exmoor Hideaway

This stone-fronted property stands in the North Devon village of Challacombe, within Exmoor National Park, and sleeps two guests in a single bedroom. Vaulted ceilings and exposed beams run through the open-plan living space, finished with a slate floor throughout and an electric stove-effect fire beside a large reclining sofa and Smart TV.

The kitchen/diner has wooden worktops, an electric oven and hob, microwave, Nespresso machine, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, and a dishwasher, with a table for two for more formal meals. The bedroom at the rear holds a super-king-size bed, and the shower room has a large walk-in shower and WC. Both the bedroom and shower room are on the ground floor.

Outside the front door a raised decked area is set up for alfresco dining, with all-weather reclining chairs and views across Exmoor, though the property has no garden of its own. A gate close to the door leads onto the owners' farmland, where stock-free fields give guests sole use of safe walking trails, useful for exercising dogs. Up to two dogs are welcome, subject to an additional charge, and a BBQ is available for guest use.

Parking for one car sits right outside, with a 7kw EV charging point just behind the property, and internet access is available throughout. A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request. A shop and pub lie within a quarter of a mile, and beaches such as Combe Martin and Woolacombe are within a 10 to 15 minute drive, alongside Exmoor Zoo, Combe Martin Wildlife Park and the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth with their cliff railway. Barnstaple and South Molton, both a short drive away, offer further shops and amenities. Check-in runs from 4pm and check-out is by 10am, and at Christmas time the property is decorated for the season.
