Shilstone Lodge

Shilstone Lodge stands on a working 120-acre farm within Dartmoor National Park, in the countryside near Chagford. The farm keeps sheep and cows, and guests may come across free-range chickens around the grounds. The cottage is reached via 7 steps, so it suits guests comfortable with stairs, and sleeps 4 across two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The ground-floor king-size bedroom has feature wallpaper, plenty of storage and a ground-floor shower room close by. Upstairs, in the sloping eaves, the second bedroom holds two single beds with an en-suite shower, basin and WC. The open-plan living space downstairs combines the kitchen, a dining area and a separate sitting area. Children should be supervised throughout the stay.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, with a tumble dryer, Freeview TV, DVD player and WiFi for evenings in. Oil central heating covers the cottage, with fuel and power included in the rent. A travel cot and highchair are available on request, and outside there's a lawned garden with furniture plus shared access to the farm's 120 acres of natural and woodland grounds, including a fishing lake that can be booked in advance with the owner.

One well-behaved dog is welcome, kept on a lead at all times, for an additional charge. Private parking is provided for two cars, and the property is no smoking throughout. Shilstone Lodge takes holiday bookings only. The nearest shop is 2.4 miles away and the nearest pub 1.4 miles.
