Sandsgate Lodge

Sandsgate Lodge sits on a hillside at Spinster's Rock, about three miles from Chagford, reached along a private drive shared with the neighbouring Sandsgate. The single-storey lodge looks out over the Teign Valley and the moor, and a path from the parking area passes a sheltered fire pit on the way to the front door.

Inside, the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area has a woodburning stove, and glass sliding doors open onto a patio with outside seating for the view. The super-king bedroom has its own en-suite walk-in shower, basin and heated towel rail, while the twin room uses 4ft beds; a separate bathroom has a bath with shower over.

The kitchen is fitted with an electric range cooker, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, an under-counter fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. Gas central heating with underfloor heating and air conditioning covers the lodge, and a Smart TV and WiFi are provided. A starter pack for the woodburning stove is included with the fuel and power.

The rear garden is not enclosed and has a patio, furniture and a Kadai fire bowl for guests who bring their own charcoal, though there's a 3ft drop from the garden wall so children need supervising. Up to four cars can share the parking, one well-behaved dog is welcome, and smoking is not permitted. Short breaks need a minimum stay of 3 nights, and stag or hen parties are not accepted.
