Rose Bud Cottage

Rose Bud Cottage is a Grade II listed thatched cottage dating from around 1625, set in the village of Kilmington near Axminster. The property sleeps five across three bedrooms and suits families or groups travelling with dogs.

Inside, a traditional Dutch door leads into an entrance porch and through to a lounge with an inglenook fireplace, an electric-style stove effect and a Smart TV. The kitchen and dining area is well equipped with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a Rayburn range cooker. A downstairs shower room and WC sit off the kitchen. Upstairs, reached via a steep original spiral staircase with a handrail, are two double bedrooms and one single. The second double is accessed through the family bathroom and features an exposed cobbled wall, while the family bathroom itself has a sloped ceiling, a bath with hand-held shower, basin and WC.

A lawned garden to the rear is enclosed and includes a raised decked seating and dining area, reached through French doors from the kitchen. A side gate gives dogs their own entrance and washing facilities into the garden. There is no private parking at the property, in keeping with most homes in the village, though free unallocated parking is available in the lane outside. Wifi is provided throughout.

Booking is limited to a maximum of two children under 10 years old, and up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome with an additional charge. Due to the thatched roof, barbecues and smoking are strictly prohibited on site. The spiral staircase may not suit those with mobility issues. A pub sits less than 100 metres away and a shop is around half a mile off, with supermarket deliveries also possible. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am.
