Clay Cottage

Clay Cottage sits just under a mile from Kilmington and sleeps four across two bedrooms, built by hand using local materials with a spiral staircase of local ash and cob as its centrepiece. The ground floor lounge has seating arranged around a wood burner, with the first basket of logs included, a Smart TV and underfloor heating throughout the ground floor.

The kitchen-diner is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher, and French doors open directly outside for alfresco meals. A utility room at the foot of the stairs holds the washing machine and a ground floor WC, handy for storing walking gear on return. Upstairs, the king-size bedroom has its own French doors onto a Juliet balcony, and the twin room converts to a queen-size double using the zip-and-link arrangement. The bathroom between the two rooms has a roll-top bath, a separate shower and WC.

Outside, an enclosed courtyard garden with furniture and a charcoal BBQ adjoins the kitchen doors. A separate secluded area with a fire pit is also available to guests. Two cars can be parked off-road. Up to two dogs are welcome, and the property can accommodate two horses on request. A highchair and travel cot are available for families.

Kilmington village has a pub serving food and a farm shop within a mile. Beer and Lyme Regis are both around eight miles away, giving straightforward access to the Jurassic Coast. Axminster, three miles off, has a weekly market and a range of shops.
