Oriel Cottage

Oriel Cottage sits on the fringes of Exmoor National Park in Muddiford, a quiet village near Woolacombe in North Devon. Exposed stonework, structural timbers and slate flooring run through the interior, while a vaulted ceiling rises above the living area where an L-shaped sofa and armchair gather around a wood burner. Patio doors connect the sitting room to the garden, and the kitchen-diner opens into the main space so nobody is left out of the conversation while food is being prepared.

The cottage sleeps five across two bedrooms, both with king-size beds. The first bedroom has patio doors and its own en-suite with a walk-in shower and WC. The second king-size room also contains a single bed and shares the main bathroom, which has a roll-top bath, a separate walk-in shower and WC. The kitchen is well equipped with a hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, air fryer, slow cooker and a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. A highchair and travel cot (120 cm x 60 cm) are provided for families with young children.

Outside, an enclosed garden with lawn, patio furniture and a BBQ leads down to a hot tub. The boundary is formed by a wooden fence and shrubs, and a gate gives access to the adjoining House Martins cottage, which can be booked separately for a further six guests. Private parking is available on site, along with a pay-to-use EV charger bookable at the time of reservation. There is no mobile signal at the property; a landline is provided, and guests should bring their own beach towels. The property draws water from its own well.

Up to three dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure by 10:00. Exmoor National Park, with its high cliffs, red deer and designated Dark Sky Reserve, is roughly seven miles away.
